When your application requires that a task be performed that can not be completed with standard air cylinders, SMC can help you find the solution. SMC offers a variety of specialty air cylinders including Sine (smooth acceleration), Load Stopping, and Clamp to name a few. For example, the transportation of delicate items often requires greater control of cylinder speed, acceleration and deceleration than is afforded by traditional pneumatic cylinders. For this reason, SMC has developed a RE series of sine cylinders. These cylinders facilitate high-speed transportation of work but have very smooth actuation (similar to sine wave).

For your demanding applications our large engineering department can customize a product solution for you. Need a special variation on our standard pneumatic rotary actuator? No problem. We can create a three-stop rotary unit to meet your custom needs.

Series CVS1 is a double acting, single rod, valve mounted cylinder with built-in speed controller. Operation style can be changed to normally retracted or normally extended. Single, double, and 3 position solenoid valves can be installed. There are seven mounting options available for the CVS1 series and bore sizes range from 40mm to 100mm. An auto switch cylinder with the switch installed can also be manufactured.

The air-hydro unit consists of a converter and a valve unit that are compactly integrated. It converts air pressure to an equivalent hydraulic pressure, and this hydraulic pressure is used for operating an actuator, thus solving the problem that is associated with the compression characteristics of air. Thus, in spite of using pneumatic equipment, it performs similarly to a hydraulic unit, operating at a consistent speed during starting or in the presence of load fluctuations, and at the same time solving the problems of sticking and slipping associated with low speed operations. This unit is ideal for achieving accurate and constant speed of the cylinder, intermediate stopping, skip movement, or for slow operation of a rotary actuator. CEU5 utilizes a RS-232C communication system which allows multiple counters to be linked together (each counter has a unique address, 1-99. BCD output, which allows the counter to be connected to a panel display, is available as a standard option.
